The Nokia N96 was the most awaited mobile phone of the year 2008. The reason being that the launch of the cell phone was delayed couple of times and we can predict that engineers must have struggled a lot while manufacturing this phone. So, lets just analyze the hand set and see whether this mobile phone lives up to the expectations of million of Nokia phone users. N96 is a little bigger than Nokia’s last model N95; however, it has got a much sleeker look.

Free Gifts with New Contract PhonesAs compared to N95, this phone has got a curvier and smoother look and there are less confusing buttons. Nokia has upgraded this phone to 3.2 Series 60 user interface. The flash memory is also upgraded to massive 16GB of storage. Apart from these, the new application in N96 is Live TV which is made possible with the help of a DVB-H television tuner and an antenna which is internally installed in the phone. N96 is upgraded with a better operating system since the previous model faced many problems regarding the operating system and was a slow one.

There are some features which are exactly like N95. These features include the Nokia map with an in-built GPRS navigation system, the 5 mega pixel camera with Tessar optics and a Carl Zeiss lens, wi-fi internet connection and HSDPA data transfer at 3.6 Mbps. The 5 mega pixel camera is one of the best mobile phone cameras; however, there are better cameras available in mobile phones like in Samsung’s i8510 which has an impressive 8 mega pixel camera. Also, the LED flash is not the best since N82’s Xenon flash is much more powerful. Regardless of all these shortcomings, we can not deny that N96 has an extremely good camera and a video camera as well for the purpose of making video calls.

N96 has got a 950 mAh battery which has an impressive talk time of 220 min and the standby time of more than 220 hrs. The battery can support a video recording for 5 hours, 4 hours of TV or 14 hours of music. There is no doubt about the fact that Nokia N96 is a great hand set. It can give a tough competition to the other technologically advanced phones such as the iPhone. Some people do prefer the touch screen phones, however, if we compare, overall N96 is better than the touch screen phones.
